FAQs

HOW DOES ASKING A QUESTION WORK?

Once you gain access to your membership, you log in and ask a question. When you ask the question, you will click on as many of the several categories available which are relevant to the question asked. When you submit the question, it goes to all Mentors who have relevant expertise in the categories you chose. We guarantee you will receive at least one answer within 72 hours. The better the question, the more answers and perspectives you may receive.

HOW TO FORM A QUESTION?

Your question should be as complete and detailed as possible to get to the appropriate mentor and to get an adequate response.  These questions should include the state of your business, the industry you are in, whether it’s product or service related, etc.  All these descriptors will assist you in getting the type of answer you desire.

Poor Question: How do I prepare to open up locations in a new state?

Good Question: I am the President of a private company in the home remodeling industry with approximately 150 employees and 3 locations in the same state. We are preparing to open two new locations in nearby states in the next 6 months. I am concerned with operational challenges we may encounter in a different state. What are the best ways to prepare setting up operations in a new state?

CAN I ASK A RELATIVELY COMMON QUESTION?

While we don’t want to limit the questions you can ask, we do want to assist you in asking questions from which you will gain the most value.  For example, if you have questions relating to the initial hiring of employees and how you handle the administrative portion of that, don’t ask, “How do I hire employees when I have none now?”  That will be a detractor to a mentor. However, if you ask, “I am hiring 5 salespeople for my service business, and I am considering using an outsourced service provider. Does anyone have any advice on whether I should hire them full time or part time or how I should handle the administrative side of taxes and benefits?”

CAN I ASK A MENTOR A QUESTION DIRECTLY?

While a Mentor is able to reach out to Mentees for 1-on-1 mentoring, it is important we are respectful of the Mentors to give them the freedom to answer only the questions they feel most qualified to answer. When you check the boxes for the subject(s) of your question, your question is sent to the corresponding Mentors who specialize in those areas. Your questions will be answered faster in this open format we offer.

CAN I UPGRADE MY MEMBERSHIP AT A LATER TIME?

If you have the GOLD package (35 questions), you can upgrade to the PLATINUM package (100 questions) at any time. Half of your membership fee will be applied to the PLATINUM package annual fee. If you already have the PLATINUM package, 100 questions is our maximum per year. It is important for us to limit the number of questions in order to protect the integrity of the questions being asked. This helps our Mentees focus on asking the best and most significant questions to our Mentors.

HOW DOES 1-ON-1 MENTORING WORK?

Sage advise is passed from Mentors to Mentees with our Q&A format. Mentors do have the option to reach out to a Mentee for 1-on-1 mentoring if they choose to do so. In order to protect the privacy of the Mentors, Mentors must make the initial contact with a Mentee of their choice. After the initial contact, it is up to the Mentor and Mentee in what capacity they would like to continue.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR LION’S DEN?

The Lion’s Den offers a great opportunity for Mentees seeking funding to pitch their business concept to Mentors interested in good investments and/or partnership opportunities. The Mentee fills out a detailed application with information about their business, the amount of money they are asking for, what they will give in return, and sales presentation. If chosen to participate in the Lion’s Den, the applicant would give their sales presentation to Mentor investors. Each Mentor has the option to accept the offer, give a counteroffer, or decline the offer. The terms are negotiated on the spot in an open format. Lion’s Den offers an exciting way to acquire funding for your business and possibly create a relationship with a Mentor to leverage their expertise.

CAN I EDIT A QUESTION ONCE IT HAS BEEN POSTED?

No, a Mentor may have already started responding to the posted question. Please take your time to write and post well thought out questions.

WHAT IF THE ANSWER I RECEIVED WAS NOT WHAT I WAS ASKING? CAN I ASK A QUESTION A SECOND TIME?

Generally, if the answer you received was not a direct response to your scenario, it is possible the question needed more context or more detail in the question. Try rewriting with more context and detail to post as a new question. This would count as two questions.

CAN I RECOMMEND SOMEONE AS A MENTEE?

Mentorship.CLUB is invite only. If you feel a colleague of yours would greatly benefit from the program and definitely Pay it Forward when given the chance, we would be happy to extend an invite. The recommended candidate would go through the same application process to become a member. If you have someone in mind, email their contact information and why you believe they would be a good member to mentee@mentorship.CLUB.

WHAT IS THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM?

Our core mission is to Pay it Forward. What better way to do this than to give a disadvantaged person access to the best advice in the world? Our Mentors are granted two scholarships each to give to a deserving person access to this program for free.

CAN I RECOMMEND SOMEONE FOR A SCHOLARSHIP?

You as a Mentee can recommend someone for a scholarship. If you know someone of modest means who is striving to be and do their best, we would love to hear their story! Please send all scholarship recommendations along with why you feel they are deserving of a scholarship to scholarships@mentorship.CLUB.
